FloQast, an accounting collaboration, automation, and close-management platform, has raised $110 million in a series D round of funding at a $1.2 billion valuation.

Financial close management is the business process of checking and adjusting account balances at the end of each month or other predefined period to publish compliant financial reports for regulators, managers, shareholders, or any other stakeholder that needs to know a company’s current financial position. But getting a company’s books into shape is easier said than done, particularly for larger businesses — more often than not it’s a manual, time-consuming process rife with human error. This is where FloQast comes in.

Close call

Founded in 2013, Los Angeles-based FloQast works with a slew of high-profile customers, including Snowflake, Zoom, Lyft, GrubHub, Twilio, and Yelp. The company’s flagship FloQast Close product serves as a centralized place for teams to manage all their recurring close-management work, including outstanding tasks; collaborative checklists and review notes for assigning tasks and viewing who needs to do what; and a transparent roll-up of all account reconciliations, replete with ERP and Excel integrations to automate part of the auditing “tie-out” process.

Elsewhere, FloQast includes support for automated alerts if amounts change after sign-offs are finalized, and users can configure the platform to automatically request more information from relevant parties if anything is missing during a close. Built-in analytics can also help managers track efficiencies by using historical data to spot month-end close trends over time and identify bottlenecks.

Automation for the people

FloQast had previously raised around $93 million, and with its latest cash injection, the company is well-financed to capitalize on a growing push toward automation across the accountancy sphere. In the past few months alone, companies including Osome, Auditoria, Zeni, Lockstep, and Georges have all raised sizable sums to help accountancy teams automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks.

But perhaps more than that, FloQast is well-positioned to support the burgeoning remote work trend that is likely to linger long after the global pandemic subsides. Team collaboration tools such as Zoom, Slack, and Microsoft Teams have already benefited from a more distributed workforce, and FloQast’s shared workspace is designed to fulfill a similar function for finance teams.

FloQast’s series D round was led by Meritech Capital, with participation from Insight Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, Coupa Ventures, Polaris Partners, and Norwest Venture Partners.

New Request Management Workflow Solution Automates Requests for Information and Tasks Delivering Faster Time-to-Close

LOS ANGELES, June 24, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FloQast , a provider of accounting workflow automation software created by accountants for accountants, today announced the launch of FloQast ReMind, a new request management workflow add-on to the FloQast Close solution. FloQast ReMind automates manual tasks and delivers new levels of visibility across the Close process to enable a manage-by-exception approach.

More than half of all companies say extremely overworked staff add to the challenges in attaining a faster time-to-close. According to FloQast user data, a typical accounting team can generate over 300 requests for tasks and information across 100 different individuals, resulting in more than 2,000 additional email exchanges. FloQast ReMind addresses these pain points by automating communications to streamline information collection, improving collaboration with internal and external teams, and enabling a manage-by-exception approach with a new level of centralized visibility across the entire close process.

“We worked with hundreds of companies to build FloQast ReMind to automate and reduce the time spent using email to request information, while also giving managers increased visibility into the bottlenecks impacting their time-to-close,” said Mike Whitmire, CPA*, CEO and co-founder of FloQast. “Like all of our solutions, FloQast ReMind is intuitive, can be set up in minutes, and saves accounting teams hours each month.”

FloQast ReMind enables accounting teams to reduce the burden of daily request management through a closed-loop process of Request-Manage-Optimize:

Request. Requests can be easily automated, customized and scheduled. Users can create public or private information requests using pre-configured or customizable templates.

The monthly close process is optimized with a dashboard view into bottlenecks and exceptions so teams can quickly take action.

With FloQast ReMind, accountants can now automate the request and collection of information for accruals, expenses, assets, liabilities, and view the status of those requests at any time.

“With FloQast ReMind request automation, we’re able to quickly and efficiently collect info from a team of 80 people across 28 different divisions – which translates into serious time savings,” said Geena Lewis, NSS Accounting Services Group Manager at PulteGroup.

Mariners fans have been holding their breath waiting on the newest call-up, Cal Raleigh, to get his first hit for the big league club. He came through in a big way against the Rockies in the series opener, doing more than just swatting his first hit.

It started off in the 4th inning when he hit a little flare to center field. We all know the ball carries a bit more in Colorado, and it’s a good thing they were back to using the Humidor after the home run derby, or else this ball would’ve been caught.

Mariners Cal Raleigh was off the schneid, and had his first major league hit.

https://twitter.com/Mariners/status/1417660789880594434?s=20

I guess we could even go back a bit. It wasn’t just that Raleigh was 0-12, it’s that he hadn’t been on base either. He drew a walk in his first plate appearance. Not a bad way to start the day. A walk, and then your first major league hit. Do you know what could make it even better? A nice 2-run double into the gap to start a big-time rally in the 6th inning.

This would lead to a 2-run home run later in the inning by Dylan Moore, and the Mariners would be up 4-2, and never look back. Cal Raleigh had his first, real big-league day, and Mariners fans everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief. You could see the excitement and job on Raleigh’s face as well after getting that first hit.

Ty France would pull a Raleigh in the 7th, knocking in a 2-run double of his own to make it 6-2. Overshadowed a bit by the offense was the fact that Marco Gonzalez looked a lot like the pitcher we were expecting going into this season. Marco would go five innings, giving up just two runs, earning his first win since April 15th!

It was a nice win for the Mariners and guarantees them at least a split in Colorado. They’ll start the finale in the rare early Wednesday game for the Mariners, as Keynan Middleton will take the mound against Austin Gomber at 12:10 PT.

 ## Rookie Cal Raleigh’s 2-run double helps Mariners beat Rockies 6-4

DENVER (AP) — Marco Gonzales earned his first win in three months, rookie Cal Raleigh had a two-run double and Dylan Moore homered to lead the Seattle Mariners over the Colorado Rockies 6-4 on Tuesday night.

Mariners 6, Rockies 4: Box score

Gonzales (2-5) had not won since beating Baltimore on April 15. He’d been 0-4 in eight starts since then and also spent a month on the injured list with a strained left forearm.

“The objective was to give us a chance to win the game and that’s exactly what he did. He did his job,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. “Nice to get Marco that win and really happy with the way he threw the ball.”

Gonzales was on the paternity list to be with his wife, Monica, who gave birth to the couple’s first child, daughter Grace, on June 28. Becoming a father helped change his view on his winless drought.

“I had a baby and that put life into perspective,” he said. “There’s a lot of bigger things than wins and losses. It’s hard to get disappointed when you come home to a newborn.”

Gonzales allowed two runs in five innings and posted the victory 65 miles from where he grew up in Fort Collins. He got the better of All-Star Germán Márquez, who lost at Coors Field for the first time since May 4.

Connor Joe put Colorado ahead 2-0 with his first major league homer, a two-run drive in the fifth. But the normally sharp Márquez couldn’t hold it in the sixth while giving up four runs in his first start since throwing one shutout inning in the All-Star Game on July 13.

“We were all fired up for Connor. He’s been swinging the bat really well in the minor leagues and he’s continued to stay hot,” bench coach/acting manager Mike Redmond said. “That’s the beauty of this game, guys get opportunities and take advantage of it. It was a huge lift for us, we just weren’t able to hold them down tonight.”

The Mariners started the inning with four straight hits, the last being Raleigh’s two-run double that tied the game.

Moore put them ahead with a two-out, two-run homer.

needed more, got Moore 🤗 pic.twitter.com/GB3qcmmjRg — Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) July 21, 2021

Márquez permitted four runs and seven hits in six innings. In his five previous starts combined, he had given up three runs.

Ty France hit a two-run double in the seventh for a 6-2 lead. C.J. Cron brought the Colorado closer with his 14th homer, a two-run drive in the eighth.

Kendall Graveman worked around a walk in the ninth to pick up his ninth save.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Mariners: 1B Evan White will have surgery on his right hip to repair the labrum in the joint, manager Scott Servais said. White will rehab at Seattle’s spring training site in Arizona. … LHP Justus Sheffield (left forearm strain) has started to throw but not off a mound. … RHP Justin Dunn (right shoulder inflammation) will start throwing off a mound in the next week, Servais said.

Rockies: Placed INF/OF Chris Owings on the 10-day injured list with a mallet finger of the left thumb and recalled Joe from Triple-A Albuquerque. … OF Raimel Tapia remained was not in the lineup for the fourth straight game. He pinch-hit for the second time since the All-Star break.

TWICE IS BETTER

Raleigh entered Tuesday 0 for 12 but finally got his first career hit with a bloop single to center in the fourth inning. Raleigh, who made his major league debut July 11, kept it up with his two-run double in his next at-bat.

“I’d be lying if I told you it wasn’t on my mind, but I knew it was going to come,” Raleigh said of his first hit. “I had hit some balls hard and they didn’t find the hole. Luckily I got one to drop in there.”

The rookie catcher also threw out Garrett Hampson at second on a steal attempt in the first inning.

Cal will take care of that for ya. pic.twitter.com/3qrMEtPUcZ — Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) July 21, 2021

UP NEXT

The Rockies are expected to activate LHP Austin Gomber (6-5, 3.86) from the 10-day injured list to make his first start since June 19 on Wednesday. The Mariners have not announced a starter.

Servais: Gilbert giving Mariners ‘a lift,’ Kelenic in ‘really good spot’

 ## Gonzales ends W drought in homecoming

 ![img](https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/private/t_2x1/t_w1536/mlb/u6vk6bjxeina7elet4o5.jpg)]

“I mean, I'd be lying to you if I told you I wasn't thinking about it or it wasn't on my mind,” Raleigh said of his first hit. “But I knew it was going to come, and I had hit some balls hard. Luckily, I got one to drop in the fourth inning.”
